The Future of Transportation in Aotearoa NZ - A Holiday Programme special

In one of the days of our January 2024 Holiday Programme, we embarked on a journey with a group of enthusiastic kids to explore the future of transportation in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our goal was to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and innovative thinking as the young minds delved into the challenge of designing a transport system that is not only convenient but also beneficial for society, propelling New Zealand into the future.

The day kicked off with a lively competition that centered around three thought-provoking videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUS2w4y2Qj4 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cf7IL_eZ38 , and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3f1bPpYzMA , each offering unique perspectives on the future of transportation. This provided the kids with a solid foundation to start their creative engines.

The teams set out to brainstorm, conceptualise, and design their vision for the future. The new transport system had to be convenient, socially beneficial, and a step towards advancing New Zealand's transportation landscape.

One of the highlights of the competition was the formation of teams, each with a unique team name and company logo. The winning team, in particular, stood out by not only embracing the challenge but by going above and beyond. Their designs included a car charmingly named "Sad-Boi" (no questions asked), a truck, and even a plane. The diversity of their creations showcased the breadth of their imaginations and problem-solving skills.

Exploring Te Papa was a vital part of our journey. The exhibits sparked the children's creativity, providing a new outlook on how advancements in transportation can improve life in New Zealand. The blend of innovation and cultural awareness encouraged the kids to think outside the box.

Competitions like these play a pivotal role in our holiday programme. They serve as catalysts for engaging the kids, igniting their creativity and encouraging them to ponder on ways to enhance our little island country.

The children not only had fun but also gained valuable insights into the importance of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving in shaping our future.
